Variation Simulation Analysis (VSA)

Variation Systems Analysis, Inc.

Variation Simulation Analysis (VSA) software uses statistical simulationtechniques to predict the amount of variation that can occur in anassembly due to specified design tolerances, fixturing tolerances, andmanufacturing/assembly variation. It can determine the location(s) of thepredicted variation, and the contributing factors, and their percentageof contribution.Comparative what-if studies can be evaluated analytically and veryquickly, to optimize the process, eliminating costly and time-consumingtrial-and-error methods. Benefits of using VSA include: a structuredcommunication between design and manufacturing, prediction of assemblyvariation and/or product quality before component parts are manufactured, reduction of equipment costs by avoiding over-specifying or conservativedesign, and the close of the dimensional analysis loop by interfacingwith geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design of experiments, andstatistical process control data.
